Soybean Aphid
No soybean aphid risks are predicted in the next week. Colonization of soybean continues across much of the upper Midwest, but field reports indicate that soybean aphid numbers, where present, are very low. Recent heavy rainfall events have also reduced populations that were observed especially across portions of northern Iowa, southern Minnesota, and into some fields in southern and central Wisconsin as well. A few early planted soybean fields are starting to blossom mainly between I-80 and I-90 along the southern end of the region where annual soybean aphid concerns are present, so growers are advised to continue to scout fields and monitor populations especially as heavy rainfall events subside this week.
