Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for the next week across portions of eastern North Dakota and South Dakota, a good portion of Minnesota, far northern Iowa, and also far western Wisconsin. Low risks for more isolated potential issues extends from the central Dakotas across northern Iowa, the remainder of Minnesota not included in the Moderate risk (generally north of Minneapolis), Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. With a higher percentage of fields now in early reproductive stages of growth, regular scouting at the field level will be important to determine if any treatment will be needed. Fields that need treatment will be more scattered in nature, so decisions on treatment should be based off of scouting those fields and not necessarily what the local gossip is saying with regards to soybean aphids or their populations.
