Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for the next week across portions of the eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, northern Iowa, and into far western Wisconsin. Low risks extend from these same states as well as further south into extreme northeast Nebraska, central Iowa, and east into lower Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada. Greatest concern is with soybeans at or prior to the R6 growth stage, and especially in portions of the far eastern Dakotas, western and southern Minnesota, and far northern Iowa, where some areas have reported locally heavy pressure in recent weeks. Growers are encouraged to continue regular scouting until the crop in specific fields being scouted reaches R6 growth stage. The overall threat should begin to subside as we head into the last week or August and especially into September as the majority of the crop moves past the R6 growth stage and soybean aphids begin moving back to buckthorn, especially if triggered to do so by a strong cold front at that time.
