Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for another week as enough fields in the northern soybean-growing region may still be at risk of seeing some scattered soybean aphid issues that would require treatment. We do expect the elevated risks to be removed in the next week or so as the crop advances past critical stages of growth, however. Growers from the eastern Dakotas into Minnesota, northern Iowa, and far western Wisconsin are still in the Moderate risk, and regular scouting should continue until the crop reaches the R6 growth stage. More isolated issues are possible further west into the Dakotas and perhaps into far northeast Nebraska, central Iowa, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and east into southern Ontario, Canada as well. Treatment decisions should be made based on specific fields and not just what is generally being observed throughout a county, etc. as soybean aphid populations will vary from field to field.
