Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category across far eastern North and South Dakota and western and southern Minnesota for the next week. Greatest concern at this point is with late planted or later maturing fields that may still not be to the R6 growth stage where soybean aphid populations or damage do not have as much impact on yields. The fields that are not at that point yet may see localized population increases and at least some potential impact to yields still at this point. Low risks continue in the forecast for the next week for more isolated issues from the central Dakotas east into the remainder of Minnesota, northern Iowa, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and on east into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers with crops at or prior to the R6 growth stage should continue to regularly scout fields and make any later season treatment decisions based on population dynamics within that field.
