Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm moth flight has begun in the usual “hot spots” for this particular insect. Fields in northern Kansas, Nebraska, northern/central Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern lower Michigan are all at risk of seeing new moth emergence and subsequent trap captures this week. Additionally, fields in Wisconsin and also southern Ontario, Canada should see more moths present especially by late week and into next weekend. Only Low risks are in the forecast in these aforementioned areas at this time, however, given present crop stage. Upgrades to the Low risk are possible especially across the Plains region in the next week or so as the corn crop is more advanced in that area.
