Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is now on the decline, but lingering pressure remains especially in the Great Lakes region and points east in southern Canada. Moderate risks remain in the forecast primarily across southeast Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada with Low risks remaining across central/northern Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers especially in Canada should continue monitoring fields for signs of western bean cutworms until crops are past critical growth stages and/or when moth/larvae pressure decrease locally. The overall threat from western bean cutworms will decrease rather rapidly over the next week or so in many areas, however, and the threat will no longer be present for the remainder of the growing season.
