Alert Details

Western bean cutworm moth flights are anticipated to increase in the coming week, and with corn now entering into critical growth stages in several areas of the corn-growing region, risks for this insect have been increased in the most vulnerable areas. Moderate risks are now in place across far northern Kansas into southern Nebraska as well as in portions of Indiana and far western/northwestern Ohio. Low risks continue across northern Kansas, northeast Colorado, and into Nebraska as well as Wisconsin, northern Indiana and Ohio, lower Michigan, and east into southern Ontario, Canada. Grower in or near the risk areas are strongly encouraged to monitor traps and scout fields as the flight continues to intensify over the next several weeks.
