Alert Details

Moderate western bean cutworm risks are predicted across central/northern Nebraska in the next week as the flight continues in this area, however, there are signs that it is beginning to wind down especially along the southern end of the risk. Low risks cover much of the remainder of Nebraska, northeast Colorado, far northern Kansas, and also slightly further east into southeast South Dakota, western Iowa, and far northwest Missouri. Further east, across the Great Lakes region, Moderate risks remain in place mainly across central/northern Wisconsin and into lower Michigan but especially in southern Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada and also much of New York state as the flight continues. Risks are being reduced on the southern end in these areas, as well, as the flight subsides in those areas. Growers located in or near the risk areas are encouraged to continue trapping efforts and field scouting for egg masses/larvae as treatment timing is critical for this particular insect.
