Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight continues especially in the eastern Great Lakes region where Moderate risks remain in the forecast for the next week. Fields from central lower Michigan east into southern Ontario, southwest Quebec, and into northern New York state are in the Moderate risk for the next week as the flight is greatest in these regions. Elsewhere, the Moderate risk has been removed from the forecast further west across Nebraska and also in Wisconsin where moth captures have dramatically decreased and also where host crops are now getting more advanced and no longer at risk of yield loss. Still, even in these areas scouting on late or re-planted or fresh market/processing crops should continue if at a critical growth stage. The primary focus for the next few weeks, however, will remain in the eastern Great Lakes and into southeast Canada as the flight continues.
