Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is beginning to subside across much of the United States, but concerns do still linger especially in central and northern lower Michigan but more-so just to the east across the international border in southeast Canada. Moderate risks remain for the next week across far southeast Ontario and southwest Quebec provinces with Low risks surrounding the Moderate risk area in the southern portion of these provinces. Growers with crops still at susceptible stages to western bean cutworm damage, especially in southeast Canada, should continue scouting for the next week or so, or until the crop is past critical growth stages and/or is harvested. The overall threat from this insect for this growing season should subside fairly quickly in the next week or so, however.
