Alert Details

Western bean cutworm moth emergence has commenced in some of the usual “hot spot” areas for this particular insect. While many crops in these areas are not at susceptible stages to damage, look for the flight to continue to increase with egg laying becoming more prevalent in the next few weeks. For now, Low risks have been introduced to the forecast mainly as a warning to let growers know to get their traps out (if not already) and prepare for an increase in the moth flight over the next few weeks for scouting/treatment programs in the higher pressure areas. Low risks are now in the forecast across northern Kansas and southern Nebraska as well as mainly the Central Sands region of Wisconsin and then on east into the southern Great Lakes region from northern Indiana, northwest Ohio, southern lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada.
