Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is now winding down in many areas and with crop stages now advancing past critical stages for this insect, elevated risks have been reduced to mainly those fields in southern Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada where lingering threats could still be present, especially on later or re-planted crops. Low risks also remain in the forecast further south and west for these same later advancing crops in Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. Growers are encouraged to continue scouting efforts especially in these slower to mature crops until the overall threat has passed for this growing season which should be in the next few weeks in most areas.
