Alert Details

Western bean cutworm moth captures continue to increase in some areas where this insect is more prevalent as the annual moth flight begins to work into its peak flight season. Moderate risks remain in place across northern Kansas into southern Nebraska as well as further east into northern Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern lower Michigan. By later in the week and into next weekend, High risks have been introduced in the forecast mainly across the Plains region where counts are growing much more quickly, while Moderate risks for more scattered issues are expected further north and east into lower Michigan and also far southern Ontario, Canada. Regardless of the risk level, growers in/near any risk area are encouraged to monitor traps but also regularly and diligently scout fields as the need for any treatment is very sensitive time-wise to be effective.
