Western Bean Cutworm
Early western bean cutworm emergence continues across portions of the Great Lakes region with moths appearing in the last week in portion of Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. As a result, Low emergence risks are in place in areas where more widespread emergence is either just starting or expected to commence in portion of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and southwest Ontario. While field corn is not at a susceptible stage to damage in these areas as of yet, the early emergence should provide awareness to growers that western bean cutworm problems are likely to be earlier this year than in past years.
