Western bean cutworm emergence is predicted to commence and/or continue across portions of the Great Lakes region and also in some fields in northern Kansas and Nebraska in the next five days. Moths have been caught within the last week at trap sites in these areas and a continuation of additional emergence is likely to occur at nearby trap and field sites in the next week. Look for a rise in moth numbers as heat unit accumulations continue to increase especially in areas where moths are now being captured.
