Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is winding down in many areas, with lingering Moderate risks across portions of central and northern Nebraska, northern Wisconsin, and east into central lower Michigan as well as southeastern Canada. The primary focus from here on out is more focused across the eastern reaches of the risk, and we anticipate removing much of the Moderate risk from United States fields in the next week or so. Moth flight captures are really coming down quickly but also most crops are moving past critical growth stages for this particular insect for this growing season. Some isolated risks remain in portions of far northeast Colorado into southern and eastern Nebraska as well as far northwest Missouri, western Iowa, southeast South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, central and southern Wisconsin, and potentially as far south as northern Indiana and Ohio. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to western bean cutworms should continue scouting efforts until the crop has advanced past critical growth stages and/or the annual flight ends in your local area.
