Western bean cutworm emergence is expected to expand across additional portions of the corn-growing region as heat unit accumulations continue to increase. Peak flight may be ongoing right now across portions of Kansas and southern Nebraska with additional trap counts now being reported especially across much of Iowa and the Great Lakes region. A Moderate western bean cutworm emergence risk is in place across Kansas and Nebraska where crop stage may be coinciding with peak flight in scattered areas, with a Low risk across much of Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, northern sections of Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ontario, Canada. Fields in northern and western Illinois, southern/southeast Minnesota, and eastern Ontario, Canada are also added to the risk by the end of the five day period.
