Alert Details

The emergence of western bean cutworm is likely to continue in the next week with additional field sites in the Plains/Midwest and Great Lakes region becoming affected. The greatest risk areas, at this time, are across the Plains (northern Kansas into Nebraska) and also near the Great Lakes region from Wisconsin into Michigan, northern Indiana/Ohio, and southern Ontario, Canada. Trap counts continue to indicate peak flight levels especially in Nebraska where a high emergence and flight risk is predicted from mid-week into next weekend. Additional traps and heat unit accumulations indicate that areas in Wisconsin and southern Michigan and adjacent portions of Indiana and Ohio are seeing higher numbers as well and should continue to do so in the next several days to weeks.
