High western bean cutworm risks are presently in place across portions of central, northeast, and eastern Nebraska. Additionally, high risks are predicted in western Iowa by tomorrow and through the remainder of the next five days. By early next week, high emergence risks are also forecast for portions of northwest Ohio, southern Michigan, and northeast Indiana as trap counts are on the increase in this area and corn crops are entering susceptible stages to damage if not already there. Moderate risks encompass a large portion of the central and northern corn-growing region from Nebraska into far southern South Dakota and Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and New York, and also southwest Ontario, Canada in the next five days.
