Western bean cutworms continue to emerge and fly across a good portion of the corn-growing region. Fields from Nebraska and southern South Dakota east to the Great Lakes region and southwestern Canada have at least a Moderate risk of emergence/flight for the next five days. High risks are in place across eastern Nebraska into Iowa and also across the Great Lakes region from Michigan and Indiana into Ohio and Ontario, Canada. As we progress into the next five days, the High risk area shifts northeast into Wisconsin and far northwest Illinois and also into additional portions of northern Ohio, Michigan, and Ontario, Canada. Growers in High and Moderate risk areas are urged to monitor their fields for moth activity and egg laying at this time.
