Alert Details

Western bean cutworms and their associated moth flight and egg-laying risks will continue across the usual hot spot areas for this particular insect, but we continue to see that peak flight is now shifting further and further to the north with declining moth captures and pressure further to the south. For these reasons, and looking at crop stages, we have removed the High risk from the central Plains region but are maintaining a Moderate risk across far northeast Colorado into Nebraska, and also further east into central/northern Wisconsin and across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio as well as into lower Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada. Growers in these areas should continue trap monitoring and field scouting until the threat passes for this year’s crops especially given the sensitivity and timely approach to most effective treatments for this particular insect, where warranted.
