Alert Details

Western bean cutworm trap captures continue to decline in all areas and with a higher percentage of any potential affected crops advancing past critical growth stages for this insect, we continue to lower overall risks as the flight ends. Moderate risks remain across a portion of the Nebraska panhandle and into northern Nebraska as well as in central/eastern lower Michigan and further east into southern Ontario, Canada. Low risks for more isolated issues are found across northeast Colorado and further east across much of Nebraska, far western Iowa, southeast South Dakota, and into southwest Minnesota. Much of Wisconsin as well as far northern Indiana and Ohio and southern lower Michigan also remain in the Low risk. The treatment window for western bean cutworms is very narrow and growers should make any remaining treatment decisions for this year’s crop based on scouting at the field level.
