Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is winding down in many areas, and with the crop advancing past critical growth stages now that we are into later August, the overall risk for this insect is also dwindling pretty quickly in most areas. We are holding on to lingering Low risks across portions of far northeast Colorado into Nebraska as well as northern Wisconsin into portions of Michigan, and also further east into southeast Canada where Moderate risks will remain in the forecast for the next several days before even there, the risk will be reduced. Growers that have any lingering western bean cutworm risk should continue scouting efforts until the crop is past critical growth stages but the overall risk for this year’s crop is becoming pretty limited in most areas now.
