Western Bean Cutworm
Peak flight of western bean cutworm should continue across portions of the upper Midwest and Great Lakes region for the next five days. High and Moderate risks are in place from eastern Nebraska into southeast South Dakota, Iowa, far southeast Minnesota, much of Wisconsin, far northern Illinois, lower Michigan, northeast Indiana, northern Ohio, southern Ontario, Canada, northwest Pennsylvania, and northwest New York. Risk levels and coverage areas are being reduced in the extended period, however, especially west of Lake Michigan as peak flight is now peaking or has already peaked in many fields. Moth activity in these areas should decrease over the next few weeks. Heightened risks remain and continue to expand across the eastern Great Lakes region where trap counts in many areas continue to increase as heat unit accumulations grow and where crops are at susceptible stages to potential damage.
