Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm peak flight is ongoing across the eastern Great Lakes region and southwest Canada with more scattered but still intense flights in other areas. High risks remain in place from Wisconsin east into Michigan, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and New York, and Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks remain in place from southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa and into Wisconsin and across Lake Michigan into Michigan, far northeast Indiana, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania/New York, and Ontario/Quebec, Canada. Moth flights are currently the highest near the eastern lakes region with scattered high flights still ongoing across Wisconsin and Michigan. Growers in High and Moderate risk areas should continue to monitor their fields for not only western bean cutworm moths but also new eggs and potential larvae in fields that are still at susceptible stages to potential damage.
