Low western bean cutworm emergence risks are predicted this week across portions of north central Kansas into south central Nebraska. Heat unit accumulations in this region are predicted to reach initial emergence thresholds for this particular insect and a few moths may start appearing soon. Additional moths may emerge across sandier soils in the Great Lakes region especially by later this week. Fresh market growers in portions of southern and central Wisconsin, southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and northwest Ohio should monitor their fields for signs of western bean cutworm moths in the next week.
