Western bean cutworm emergence is ongoing especially across portions of southern and southwestern Nebraska and adjacent fields in northern Kansas. A continued start to emergence is predicted across portions of these same states in addition to northeast Colorado through the rest of the week. Corn is just beginning to tassel in much of this area so growers that were able to plant earlier should especially pay close attention to their crops over the course of the next few weeks. Additional emergence is also likely to occur across the Great Lakes region. Fresh market growers in this area should monitor their crops closely and take appropriate action if it is needed.
