Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm flight is now underway across a portion of the Plains states. Fields in northern Kansas and southern Nebraska are at the greatest risk of seeing increased western bean cutworm pressure in the next week as peak flight approaches. Moderate risks are in place across this area the rest of this week, and High risks are now in place across northern Kansas and extreme southern and southwestern Nebraska as peak flight and highest captures approach. Low risks have been extended into western and southwestern Iowa in addition to northwest Missouri by this weekend as well, and growers in the Great Lakes region should continue to monitor for increased moth captures in that area as well although crops are not as far along so the risk of damage is not quite as high.
