Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm flights are increasing across specific portions of the corn-growing regions. A Moderate and High emergence and flight risk exists across northern Kansas and southern and southwestern Nebraska in the next five days with Low risks as far east as central Iowa and north central Missouri by early next week. Additionally, Low emergence risks are in place across the southern Great Lakes region from central Wisconsin southeast into Michigan, northern Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southwest Ontario, Canada. A Moderate risk has been issued by late this weekend into early next week across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio where sandier soils are supporting increasing moth counts and where corn has begun to tassel at least on a scattered basis. Growers in both of these areas should closely monitor their fields and take appropriate treatment action when and where needed.
