Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm emergence and flights are expected to continue across an increasingly larger portion of the corn-growing region this week. Peak flight continues across portions of Nebraska and Kansas. As a result, High risks are in place in this area through the week. Moderate risks surround the High risk area in Nebraska and Kansas this week, and eventually the risk spreads east into Iowa and northwest Missouri by late week. Additional areas of concern include the Central Sands region of Wisconsin and also far southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and northwest Ohio where Moderate risks are in place. With crops either advancing into or already at susceptible stages where damage could occur, growers are urged to monitor their crops closely for signs of moths and egg masses and take appropriate action to protect their crops.
