Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm emergence will continue across portions of the corn-growing region in the next five days. Peak flight will continue across portions of Nebraska and Kansas where a High risk is in place. Moderate risks exist surrounding the High risk area across portions of Nebraska and Kansas, and eventually the risk area shifts into Iowa and Missouri as well. Additional Moderate risk areas are in place across sandier soils surrounding the Great Lakes region, or from central Wisconsin southeast into southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and northwest Ohio. Growers especially located in the Moderate and High risk areas should monitor their fields closely for signs of western bean cutworms (both moths and egg masses) and take appropriate action if needed.
