Western bean cutworms will continue their annual flight in the next week with many areas potentially seeing peak flight ongoing or now subsiding. High risks remain across portions of Nebraska, far southeast South Dakota, Iowa, far northwest Missouri, far southeast Minnesota, central into southwest and southern Wisconsin, and portions of central and southeast Michigan into southwest Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks for more scattered problems are predicted from northern Kansas into Nebraska, northern Missouri, Iowa, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Illinois, lower Michigan, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylania, northwest New York, and southwest Ontario, Canada. Growers all across the Moderate and High risk areas should be on the alert for western bean cutworm activity mainly in the form of increased moth activity and potential egg laying.
