Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm peak flight is expected to continue or even begin to subside across several regions of the corn-growing region in the next week. High risks remain from Nebraska east into Iowa, far northwest Missouri, far southeast South Dakota, far southeast Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Additional High risk regions continue from lower Michigan east into southern Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks are found from Nebraska and South Dakota east into southern Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and New York, and southern Ontario, Canada. Moth captures and field reports indicates that problems with this insect are sporadic but locally intense, and there are areas where moth pressure is very high and not far away, little to no moths are being observed. Growers are urged to check their own fields and make decisions on any treatment based on what is seen in those fields.
