Alert Details

High and moderate western bean cutworm risks continue especially across portions of the Great Lakes region into Canada where moths are still active but on the decline. Peak flight has now occurred across much of the corn-growing region but continued moth presence and crops running behind in their typical growth for this time of year results in continued risks at least for the next week or so. High risks remain in place from central and northern Wisconsin east into northern lower Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada and Moderate risks extend from near the Mississippi River in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin east into Michigan, far northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania and New York as well as southern Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada. By later in the week, the primary risk area is focused from northern lower Michigan into Ontario and Quebec, Canada with declining risk levels and coverage areas elsewhere. Growers especially in the Great Lakes region should continue monitoring for this insect and take appropriate action where needed.
