Alert Details

Western bean cutworm emergence is expected to continue especially in regions where counts have been highest in the past few years. Emergence is possible in northern Kansas and southern Nebraska as well as northern and central Indiana, northwest Ohio, southern lower Michigan, Wisconsin, and southwest and southern Ontario, Canada. Additional moths may emerge in northern Illinois in the next week as well. Most fields are not at susceptible stages to damage as of yet and moth counts will not be very high initially, so the risk is mainly provided as an awareness that the annual flight of this insect is expected to commence in the next week in the risk areas highlighted.
