The risk of western bean cutworm development is expected to continue to expand to the north and east over the next five days as heat unit accumulations continue to increase. While the greatest risk of development is expected in Kansas and western Missouri initially, the risk will eventually spread north into Nebraska, northern Missouri, and southwest Iowa as these areas also approach and surpass 25% emergence thresholds. Development risks spread as far north as I-80 in Iowa and Illinois and east into eastern Illinois by the end of the five day period.
