Heat unit accumulations continue to increase across the corn-growing region and, as a result, western bean cutworm development risks are expanding in both coverage and risk levels across especially the western, central, and southern corn-growing region. Moderate risks continue from southeast Nebraska into southwest Iowa and southward in Kansas and western/northwestern Missouri through Wednesday with Low risks further north into the I-80 corridor and also east into central Illinois. High risks are in place from north central Kansas southeast into Missouri as 50-75% emergence thresholds are approached or reached by the end of the week. Moderate risks extend north into Nebraska, Iowa, and also central Illinois by Thursday and Friday. Low risks extend as far north as the US 20 corridor in northeast Iowa and northern Illinois and eastward into Indiana and Ohio by the end of the week.
