Western Bean Cutworm
As heat continues to build north into the corn-growing region throughout the next week, heat unit accumulation and subsequent western bean cutworm emergence thresholds will be met and exceeded at additional field sites further north and east in the corn-growing region. High western bean cutworm development/emergence risks continue in southern and southeastern Nebraska, northeast Kansas, and west/northwest Missouri. By the middle of next week, High risks extend into eastern Nebraska, southwest and southern Iowa, and northern Missouri as well. Moderate emergence risks extend as far north as northern Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and into far southwest Wisconsin and western Indiana based on predicted heat unit accumulations by that time. Low risks extend north into Minnesota, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and Ohio by next week as well.
