Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm flight is winding down in many areas, but some increased moth captures and field damage reports and possibilities continue to come in from the eastern Great Lakes region and into southeast Canada. Moderate risks are in the forecast across southern Ontario and southeast Ontario/southwest Quebec, Canada for the next week with Low risks extending from eastern lower Michigan into far northern New York, Vermont, and into southern Ontario and Quebec, Canada. Growers in these areas should continue to monitor traps and scout fields for egg masses and potential damage, and complete treatments on fields right around the time of egg hatch for greatest control of this insect. The overall threat from this insect should subside in the next week or so, especially as crops advance past critical growth stages.
