Alert Details

Western bean cutworm reports continue to increase and also are becoming more consistent across especially the western and central corn-growing region from Nebraska into Iowa and Illinois as heat unit accumulations reach or exceed critical emergence levels. With the current episode of heat and high humidity predicted to persist through much of the week, emergence should continue to spread north and east into more of the corn-growing region. High risks are in place from extreme northern Kansas and southern Nebraska where peak flights are or will soon be occurring into Iowa and northern Missouri by the weekend. Moderate risks cover virtually all of central and eastern Nebraska and much of Iowa as well as northern/central Illinois and Indiana and eventually southwest Wisconsin, southwest lower Michigan, and western Ohio. Low risks extend north into South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and much of Ohio by the end of the five day period.
