Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm flight is now winding down across much of the corn-growing region, but lingering concerns remain especially in lower Michigan east into southern Ontario and southwest lower Quebec, Canada. Moderate risks remain in place in many of these areas for the next week, but we do anticipate removing the Moderate risk from the forecast by next week. Low risks remain in place from lower Michigan into far northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, western and upstate New York, and also into Vermont with additional Low risks in southern Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada. Growers should continue monitoring for egg masses and damage in both corn and dry beans.
