Western Bean Cutworm
Low western bean cutworm emergence risks are in the forecast this week mainly across Nebraska and northern Kansas and also in Wisconsin, central and southern lower Michigan, northern and central Indiana, northwest Ohio, and into southern Ontario, Canada as the annual moth flight begins. Sweet corn growers should pay especially close attention to this risk as numerous fields are now tasseling across some of the risk areas. Trap counts should be closely monitored and leaves evaluated for potential egg masses in the coming weeks as the flight intensifies as we head into July.
