Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight is winding down for the 2018 growing season, but pressure will remain in place for the next week especially across the Great Lakes region and into southern Canada. Moderate risks remain in place across northeast lower Michigan and into southern Ontario, Canada for the next several days, but by the weekend, only Moderate risks remain in portions of southern Ontario, Canada as the flight is subsiding across much of Michigan now. Growers in this area should continue to scout fields as numerous larvae are present in some areas. Low risks remain in place for the next few days across Nebraska and southern South Dakota as well as into Wisconsin and far northern Indiana/Ohio, but by the end of the week and into next weekend, only portions of lower Michigan into southern Canada will carry any risks as the flight subsides and larvae pressure/advanced crop stage limits or eliminates the overall risk for this year.
